Hello world! As I'm finishing editing the last wedding of the season, I came to tell you that we'll have our website (or should I say blogsite) up and running soon. Last week I purchased a domain, a web host and some additional stuff and now I'm just waiting for green light from the web host. When I'm done, this blog will become history (I'll keep all the stuff here, though).

Eeva & Eero, 2.10.2010, Mäntyharju


On May 24th this year, I received a message from Eeva on Facebook. She told me she's getting married with Eero on October and they want me to photograph their wedding. It's always such an honor whenever I get inquires and when it comes from people you know, it's even bigger honor. I know Eeva through Marjo, who's a friend of mine and we've met a couple of times. We met for the first time when Marjo and Mikko got married back in 2008, when I was still just dreaming of becoming a wedding photographer. :) And wow, even though those pics are just pics taking by me as a guest, I can definitely see I've come a long way since that! I love trips down the memory lane.

Back to present.

It was a beautiful autumn day in Mäntyharju. You could just smell autumn. I'm definitely an autumn person. It's so much easier to breathe. Or, it would have been if I weren't sick! The adrenaline definitely kicked in and I think these are one of my best photos. I love every single one of them (and the one above is probably my favorite one ever), even though Eeva warned me that it's hard to get a good photo of her. I doubt it, because she's very pretty. :) And the love between them was just obvious.

They had a beautiful ceremony with communion. Eero's father wed the couple and his mother was a part of the ceremony too. It made their ceremony so much more intimate and emotional.

Their reception was held at Tyllilä-Hovi which is a former school.

Just as the sun was setting down, we went outside to take some photos. The light was unbelievably pretty. After a long summer of hard light it was definitely a welcomed change. :) And when it was dark, we took some experimental portraits with long exposures under the starry sky.

Their wedding day was warm, beautiful and cute. Thank you, Eeva and Eero! It was a pleasure to be a part of your day. Congrats!

Toukokuun 24. päivä sain Eevalta viestiä Facebookissa, jossa hän kertoi, että ovat Eeron kanssa menossa naimisiin lokakuussa ja haluaisivat minut kuvailemaan heidän häänsä. Minulle on aina kunnia kun saan tiedusteluja ja varsinkin, kun kyseessä on ihminen jonka tunnen, kunnia on vielä suurempi. Tunnen Eevan ystäväni Marjon kautta ja olemme tavanneet muutaman kerran. Ensimmäisen kerran tapasimme kun Marjo ja Mikko menivät naimisiin vuonna 2008, silloin kun vielä haaveilin häävalokuvaajana olosta. :) Ja vau, vaikka kuvat ovatkin vain vieraan näpsimiä, kun niitä katsoo, tajuan kuinka paljon olenkaan kehittynyt. Muistojen polkuja on joskus mukava kulkea.

Mutta takaisin nykyhetkeen.

Oli kaunis syyspäivä Mäntyharjulla. Syksyn pystyi haistamaan. Olen ehdottomasti syksyihminen. Silloin on helpompaa hengittää. Tai olisi ollut, jos en olisi ollut kipeänä! Adrenaliini ainakin syöksähti valloilleen ja mielestäni nämä kuvat ovat yhdet parhaistani. Rakastan niistä jokaista, vaikka Eeva varoittelikin, että hänestä on vaikea saada hyvää kuvaa. Epäilenpä, koska Eeva on todella kaunis. :) Ja heidän välisen rakkaus oli ilmiselvää.

Heidän vihkiseremoniansa oli kaunis morsiusmessu ehtoollisineen. Eeron isä vihki parin ja hänen äitinsäkin oli osana seremoniaa. Se teki vihkimisestä intiimimmän ja tunteellisemman.

Juhlaa vietettiin Tyllilä-Hovissa, joka on entinen koulu.

Juuri kun aurinko oli laskemassa, menimme ulos ottamaan kuvia. Valo oli uskomattoman kaunis. Pitkän kesän ja kovan valon jälkeen tuollainen oli tervetullut muutos. :) Ja kun tuli pimeää, otimme muutaman kokeellisen potretin tähtitaivaan alla.

Heidän hääpäivänsä oli lämmin, kaunis ja söpö. Kiitos, Eeva ja Eero! Oli ihana olla osa teidän hääpäiväänne. Onnittelut!

Katri & Jukka, Albergan kartano/Alberga manor, 11.9.2010



Olen vietellyt vapaata viikonloppua editoiden kuvia, syömällä liikaa karkkia, hengailemalla ystävien kanssa ja nauraen paljon. :) Toisaalta tekisi mieli jo mennä kuvailemaan häitä, vaikka taukokin tekee kyllä hyvää.

Tällä kertaa tähtipaikalle pääsevät Katrin ja Jukan syyskuiset häät. Nämä häät olivat yhdet vuoden lemppareistani. :) Heidän häitään vietettiin kauniissa Albergan kartanossa, Espoon Leppävaarassa. Haasteita riitti kellarin valaistuksen suhteen, mutta ehkä se haastavuus tekikin näistä häistä niin ihanat. Ja se tunnelma, mikä kellarissa vallitsi, oli aivan mieletön. Ihana hääpari, hyvä ruoka, mieletön tunnelma, hyvää stand-uppia, hyvä pändi, bilettävät ihmiset... Tästä yhtälöstä syntyy vuoden yhdet lempikuvistani :)

Kiitos mielettömän ihanasta päivästä, Katri ja Jukka! Toistan taas itseäni sanomalla, että meillä oli erittäin hauskaa. :)

I've been spending my free weekend editing photos, eating too much candy, hanging out with friends and laughing a lot. :) On the other hand it would be nice to be photographing weddings again, but I'm really enjoying this free time too.

This blog post's stars are Katri & Jukka and their wedding back in September. This wedding was one of my favorites. :) They got married at beautiful Alberga mansion in Leppävaara, Espoo. The reception took place at the manor's cellar and its lighting was a bit challenging. But maybe the challenge made this wedding so special. The atmosphere down at the cellar was amazing. Wonderful couple, delicious food, amazing atmosphere, good stand-up comedy, good band, people partying... Adds up to one of my favorite set of wedding photos. :)

Thank you for a wonderful day, Katri and Jukka! I'm repeating myself by saying again that we had so much fun. :)

Esa & Sanna, Viikin kartano (Viikki manor), 4.9.2010


Today you'll get to see photos from the first wedding of September. Once it's been cooler after the hot, hot summer, I've enjoyed editing picture more now. I've purchased some action sets for Photoshop and played around with them. I've noticed that in some cases, I love more contrast and other times I prefer very pale colors. But that's me, I like/love a LOT of things and so it transfers into my photography and editing style. :)

It was a cloudy day with a bit of sunshine in the evening. It wasn't too cold although you could feel autumn in the air.
Because they like to travel, they had all sorts of travel themed decorations and all the tables were named after a location. I love little details like that. It's your special day, so why not make it look like you. :)

We started the day with some casual portraits at Tuomarinkylä manor (yeah, it has become one of our favorite spots in that area!) because they got married in Oulunkylä church. They had chosen Viikki manor as their venue. I even got to ride in a cool Mustang with them! Perks of being a wedding photographer.

Congrats, Sanna & Esa! You're truly a wonderful, funny and nice couple. We had so much fun with you!

Tänään näette kuvia syyskuun ensimmäisistä häistä. Nyt kun on ollut viileämpää kuumaakin kuumemman kesän jälkeen, olen nauttinut kuvien editoinnistakin enemmän. Olen hankkinut muutaman kivan "toiminnon" Photoshopiin (värimuunnoksia jne.) ja leikiskellyt niiden kanssa. Olen huomannut pitäväni välillä hyvinkin kontrastirikkaista kuvista ja välillä taas hyvin haaleista väreistä. Mutta sellainen minä olen, tykkään/rakastan MONIA juttuja joten niin se välittyy myös kuviini ja editointityyliin. :)

Päivä oli pilvinen pienellä ilta-auringolla höystettynä. Ei ollut liian kylmä vaikkakin syksyn pystyi jo tuntemaan ilmassa.
Koska he tykkäävät matkustamisesta, häissä oli koristeluna käytetty paljon matkustukseen liittyviä aiheita, esim. pöydät oli nimetty eri kohteiden mukaan. Tykkään tuollaisista pienistä yksityiskohdista. Päivä on hyvin erityinen, joten miksei kukin tekisi siitä oman näköisensä. :)

Aloittelimme päivää vapaamuotoisilla potreteilla Tuomarinkylän kartanossa (jep, siitä on muodostunut suosikkipaikkamme tuolla alueella!) koska he menivät naimisiin Oulunkylän kirkossa. Juhlia vietettiin Viikin kartanossa. Sain jopa olla upean Mustangin kyydissä! Häävalokuvaajana olon hienoja puolia.

Onnea, Sanna & Esa! Olette todella loistava, hauska ja mukava pariskunta. Meillä oli tosi hauskaa teidän kanssanne!

Jouni & me, 2.10.2010, Mäntyharju


While I'm the middle of editing wedding photos from the September 4th wedding, I found this picture we took before photographing last Saturday's wedding in Mäntyharju. I went through that day with pure adrenaline and the joy of photographing. My flu got kind of worse during last weekend and I had fever. Still I feel blessed and happy and overwhelmed with all of this. This is my dream and this is the air I breathe.

We have one wedding to photograph and then we're off! If you're interested in portrait sessions etc. we're available, but we're done with weddings for this year (unless something super fancy and interesting comes up and we just can't say no!). Jouni's busy with his school stuff and I'll be recovering from working full days since last spring. Maybe I'll have time to post my personal photos then! I'll be busy for another month or so with the photos I haven't edited yet, so wish me luck! :)

Löysin tämän kuvan 4.9 hääkuvien editoinnin keskellä, otimme tämän viime lauantaina ennen kuin kuvailimme häitä Mäntyharjulla. Päivä hoitui puhtaan adrenaliinin ja häiden kuvailun aiheuttaman ilon avulla. Flunssa kääntyi huonomaan suuntaan viikonloppuna ja minulle nousi kuume. Kuitenkin tunnen oloni ainoastaan siunatuksi ja ylivoimaisen onnelliseksi tämän kaiken vuoksi. Tämä on unelmani ja ilma, jota hengitän.

Meillä on yhdet häät kuvattavana ja sitten olemme valmiita! Jos olet kiinnostunut potrettisessioista tms. olemme tietenkin vapaina, mutta häiden osalta emme (paitsi jos jotain superhienoa ja kiinnostavaa tulee vastaan emmekä voi kieltäytyä!). Jouni on kiireinen koulujuttujensa kanssa ja minä toivun keväästä jatkuneesta pitkien päivien työskentelyurakasta. Ehkäpä minulla olisi viimein myös aikaa omille kuvilleni! Olen vielä kiireinen seuraavan kuukauden niiden kuvien kanssa, joita en ole vielä editoinut, joten toivottakaa onnea! :)

Jenni & Jari. Rauhalan kartano, 28.8.2010



Kello on melkein kaksitoista ja minun pitäisi olla nukkumassa. Sen sijaan latailen kuvia nettiin ja laitan näytille tällä kertaa kuvia Jennin ja Jarin elokuisista häistä. Olin kaksi viikkoa lomalla ennen heidän häitään ja palailimme takaisin arjen pariin tuona lauantaina. Se olikin mukavan pehmeä lasku todellisuuteen. :)

Jossain taustalla taisi jyrähdellä ukkonen ja tummat sadepilvet siintivät horisontissa. Vältyimme onneksi sateelta ja otimme ihania kuvia hääjuhlapaikan pihalla vanhan tammen juurella.

Jenni ja Jari ovat oikein komea pari ja kuten kuvistakin huomaa, Jenni oli yhtä hymyä koko päivän. :)

Sen pidemmittä puheitta päästän teidät kuvien pariin. Kiitos paljon, Jenni ja Jari! Teitä oli ihana kuvailla pienen häätauon jälkeen! :)

It's almost midnight and I should be asleep already. But here I am, uploading photos and sharing pictures from a wedding back in August. I had been on a holiday for the past couple of weeks before photographing the wedding of Jenni & Jari on a beautiful August Saturday. It was a soft landing back to reality :)

I heard a thunder somewhere far away (or at least I think I've heard some rumbling!) and dark rain clouds could be seen in the horizon. Luckily it didn't start raining and we were able to take lovely pictures outside their wedding venue, underneath an old oak.

They are a handsome couple and as you can see from rest of the photos, Jenni was all smiles during the day. :)

But now without more babbling, I'll let you watch more photos. Thank you so much, Jenni & Jari! It was a pleasure to photograph you after a small wedding break! :)

Neo, 8.8.2010, Vantaa


Terveisiä flunssan keskeltä. Olin ajatellut, että sairastun sitten vasta, kun häät on tältä vuodelta kuvattu, mutta toisin kävi. Jos jonkinmoista pöpöä tässä on ollut liikkeellä, joten kai tämä oli vain ajan kysymys. Jouni alkoi niiskuttaa viime viikolla ja vaikka sitä ei saanut edes pussata (miehet ja niiden fiksaatiot!), tässä sitä ollaan. ;)

Tällä kertaa bloggailen kuvia 8.8 lapsi-/perhekuvauksesta. Neo on ihanan tomera 1-vuotias miäs, jota kävimme kuvailemassa Vantaalla, Jokiniemessä. Jos edellinen päivä oli kuuma, niin tämä sunnuntai oli sauna. Horisontti oli harmaana Venäjän metsäpalojen johdosta ja tuntui, että ilma vain seisoi paikallaan. Neo ei tosin tuntunut välittävän asiasta, vaan mennä tepasteli ympäriinsä. Voisikin sanoa, että tämä oli dokumentaarinen kuvaus Neon seikkailuista Jokiniemessä. :)

Kuten ehkä blogini perusteella on saattanut huomata, en ole sellaisten "istu tähän ja hymyile" -(studio)kuvien ystävä (nämä ovat niitä makuasioita). Yritän vangita aitoja hetkiä ja toivottavasti siinä onnistunkin. :) Joten sana "potretti" ei ehkä ole meidän kohdalla sitä mitä yleisesti ajatellaan. Ei tartte edes hymyillä, jos ei siltä tunnu. :) Me ollaan aika rentoja ja jos joku homma ei toimi, siirrytään nopeasti uusiin ideoihin. Pyritään näyttämään asiakkaiden "sielu", jos niin voi sanoa.
Ja mikä parasta, noin hääkuvauksen kannalta, yleisin kommentti asiakkailta on ehkä "ei me edes huomattu teitä!".

Mutta, jos nyt näiden jaarittelujen jälkeen päästäisiin ihan niiden kuvienkin pariin!

Hello from the land of The Flu. I was planning to get sick after photographing all of the weddings we have left for this year... As always, things didn't go according the plans! There's been many variations of this bug going around so guess I was bound to get sick eventually. Jouni got sick last week and even though I wasn't allowed to kiss him (yep, men with their fixations!), here I am. ;)

This time I'm sharing photos of Neo and his family from August 8th. Neo is a wonderful little one-year-old man, who we had a pleasure of photograp in Jokiniemi, Vantaa. If the day before was hot, well, then this day was like sauna. The horizon was gray due to the forest fires in Russia and the air was thick with no wind. Neo didn't seem to mind, he just strutted around happily. You could say this is a documentary of Neo's day in Jokiniemi. :)

As you may have already noticed, I'm not a fan of posed "sit here and smile" (studio) photos. It's a matter of opinion, it's just not our style. I like to capture true moments and feelings and hopefully I'm doing just that! :) I guess when it comes to us, "portaits" isn't what you normally think. Even smiling isn't necessary if you don't feel like it. We are relaxed people and if we notice that something doesn't work, we'll try something else. It's all about trying to capture the "soul" of our clients.
And the best thing is that the most common comment we receive after photographing a wedding, is "we didn't even notice you were there!".

But, guess it's time to watch more photos of Neo now. :)

Noora & Kim, 7.8.2010, Riihimäki


Tällä viikolla olen löytänyt itseni. En tiedä oikein mitä tässä on tapahtunut, mutta ehkä olen löytänyt sen ammattilaisen sisältäni. Uskallan luottaa enemmän omaan vaistooni, tehdä asiat omalla näkemykselläni... Ehkä joku on heittänyt minulle itseluottamusta. :) Editointivauhtini on kasvanut huimaa vauhtia ja kirin kesälomani aiheuttamaa rakoa kiinni.

Tänään on vuorossa kuvia Nooran ja Kimin ihanista elokuisista häistä. Noora on Lauran serkku ja oli tosi mukava kuvailla häitä, jossa tuttuja naamoja vilisi enemmänkin. Nautin varsinkin kaikkien niiden ihanien lasten kuvaamisesta (kuten kuvasadosta voi ehkä päätellä).

Päivä oli ehkä menneen kesän kuumin hääpäivä. Se ei kuitenkaan estänyt ihmisiä juhlistamasta kaunista morsianta ja komeata sulhasta. :) Heidät vihittiin Riihimäen keskuskirkossa ja juhlia vietettiin Topenon seurantalolla.

This week has been sort of a break-through for me. I've discovered the professional in me. I think I have a clear view of what I want and how to achieve it. I have more self-confidence to do things more like I want to. Maybe someone's been donating it to me :) I'm getting faster and faster with editing photos and I'm getting a bit more up-to-date after my holiday.

Today I'm sharing photos from Noora's and Kim's beautiful August wedding. Noora is Laura's cousin and it was fun to photograph a wedding where we recognized a lot of faces among the people. I especially enjoyed photographing all the cute children (as you may notice while looking at their photos).

I think it was the hottest wedding day of the past Summer. That didn't stop people from having fun and celebrating the beautiful bride and handsome groom. :) They got married in Riihimäki Church and their wedding venue was Topeno's Seurantalo.
